Moises Huerta joined the Americas team at USSEC in February 2022 as Marketing, Communications, and Soy Excellence Center (SEC) Lead. Under this role, Moises works extensively with USSEC Americas’ Regional Director, market leads and focus areas experts to effectively take the Americas team’s strategic messages further and ultimately advance the interests of U.S. Soy in the ever-growing Americas region. Moises brings nearly 15 years of experience to his role, having served as Agricultural Specialist for the United States Department of Agriculture’s Foreign Agricultural Service (USDA FAS) in Bogota, Colombia; and as Chief Trade Specialist for the Trade and Investment Office at the Embassy of Peru in Washington DC. Moises has a strong background in food and agricultural trade policy analysis, regulatory and market access advocacy, and government and international affairs. Moises’ professional recognitions include the 2020 United States Embassy Locally Employed Staff of the Yea, issued by the United States Ambassador to Colombia. Moises was born and raised in Lima, Peru, and is a graduate of the Johns Hopkins University where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and a Master of Arts in Applied Economics. He also completed a graduate certificate in International Business Management from The Georgetown University in Washington D.C., and executive courses at Cornell University and Harvard University.
