USSEC Regional Director – North Asia Paul Burke states that his region has 1.5 billion consumers and boasts the highest per capita soy consumption in the world. In North Asia, U.S. soybean meal is used in animal feed for pigs, chickens, and fish and is prized for its reliable, consistent supply, and its consistency in amino acid content, digestibility, and protein levels. Twenty percent of the U.S. soybeans that are shipped to North Asia are crushed into soybean oil.
