Nebraska Lieutenant Governor Mike Foley says that agriculture is critical to his state and that finding buyers and markets overseas helps to grow Nebraska’s economy, citing the growth in the state’s soybean exports to China. In 2000, he says, the U.S. sold $1 billion in soybeans to China. Today, China’s annual soybean purchases from the U.S. total $14 billion.
