Exporters and buyers of the U.S. soy complex look to data such as statistics from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) and Census Bureau to make informed purchasing decisions. In these slides, I examine how the top U.S. soy destination markets have shifted from MY 05/06 through MY 20/21 and again from MY 16/17 to MY20/21.
Data for the month of July may seem largely unexciting for a couple of reasons: (1) it’s a slow movement time of year and (2) the U.S. had a lot of early selling this season. The accumulated slides (11-14), however, tell a more stimulating story: first, the U.S. has hit a volume and value record for the whole soy complex (slide 11) and for whole soybean shipments (slide 12).
