Ricardo Moreno, with the Mexican company Proteinol, explains in an interview with the U.S. Soybean Export Council (USSEC) how his company is beginning to focus more on providing in-depth information about the soybeans they purchase. “Sustainability, I have been talking to our sales team and it’s very good for us to market soybean oil. I think the demand of the market for a sustainable product is going to be increasing every day. We have started to have inquiries, primarily for the food usage. People like PepsiCo are starting to ask, ‘Where are your beans coming from, do you have documents you can share with us,’” says Moreno. “So based on that, I just had a conversation with one of my major suppliers and I told them I need this certificate of my previous cargos and any that we are going to get in the coming months and I think that is going to be a first step in getting those certificates and I think the next step is how to do we market to the final consumer that piece of paper?”
