U.S. soybean farmers adopt management practices that continuously improve sustainability for multiple reasons. An article in The Delmarva Farmer describes the unique path of one first-generation Delaware farmer from the U.S. east coast to farming, improving sustainability, and becoming a soybean industry leader. Cory Atkins tries new things as he raises soybeans and other row and vegetable. He also serves as a United Soybean Board (USB) director for the soy checkoff and as chairman of the Delaware Soybean Board, a qualified state soybean board (QSSB). No-till, soil sampling, variable rate nutrient applications, cover crops and other practices have earned him recognition as a conservation leader.
