Illinois Soybean Farmer Strives to Meet and Learn About International Customers

U.S. soybean farmer John Longley lives close to the river that transports his soybeans to the Gulf of Mexico and to end users overseas. 60 percent of Illinois soybeans are exported, which is why he says it’s important to be “out in the world” to learn about and meet his customers.

John Longley farms near Aledo, Ill., and is a district director for the Illinois Soybean Association and a member of the ISA Production and outreach Committee. He raises corn and soybeans with his daughter, Kate Danner. He has a bachelor's degree from the University of Illinois in farm management and a master's degree in agronomy.
