Animal nutritionists consider four common processing indicators to evaluate quality of soybean meal:

  • reactive lysine to total lysine ratio (RLys/Lys);
  • trypsin inhibitor activity (TIA);
  • KOH solubility; and
  • protein dispersibility index (PDI).

The quality of the processing is closely linked to the quality of soybean meal produced.

U.S. Soybean meal key indicators (RLys/Lys, TIA, KOH Soluability, PDI) reveal a more consistent – less variable – soybean meal than soybean meal from other origins, ensuring a more uniform product that is more predictable and reliable when formulating animal diets.
