The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Economic Research Service (ERS) released its Agriculture Resources and Environmental Indicators, 2019 report on May 7.

The report, which describes trends in economic, resource, and environmental indicators in the U.S. agriculture sector, is divided into three main sections. In the first segment, “Farms and Farm Productivity,” ERS examines various aspects of U.S. farms, including farm numbers and size; major land uses in the U.S.; farmland values; farmland ownership and tenure; agricultural productivity and sources of growth in the U.S. farm sector; and agricultural research and development.
